Kids FAQ

Infants & Toddlers

  • Where do I find the nursery and toddler rooms? Our Infant Nursery (birth through 12 months) is located on the main level in room 201, across from the sanctuary. The Walker Nursery (12-24 months) is located on the lower level in room 140. The Toddler Nursery (24 -36 months) is located on the lower level in room 141.
  • How do I check my child in? On your first visit, go to the appropriate nursery and fill out a registration form. You will then use the room sign-in sheet to sign your child in each week. Each week, you will be given a tag with a number on it, which will correspond to a numbered nametag that will be attached to your child, as well as one attached to a diaper bag. You will need your tag to pick up your child.
  • Who is watching my child? We have loving adults from our congregation in all of the nurseries who have been screened and trained. They are assisted by loving and caring teen helpers.
  • How do you reach me if my child needs me? We ask all of our parents to bring their cell phone, turned to vibrate, and put in a location where they will be aware if it goes off. We will call or text you to notify you if you are needed.
  • Is there a place for nursing mothers to feed their children? Yes. We have an area screened off in the infant nursery for nursing mothers. The service audio can be heard in the nursery.
  • Are parents required to put their children in the nurseries? Is there a special place for me to sit if I keep my child with me during the service? Parents are not required to put their children in the nurseries. It is a service we offer if you wish to make use of it. There is no designated place for families with young children to sit in the service, but most prefer to sit toward the back in case they need to excuse themselves.
  • Do I need to pick up my infant or toddler between services? No. It is easier on the children to leave them in the nursery if you are going to stay for both service hours. We are happy to keep them the entire time you are here.
  • How long will you let my child cry? Parents can indicate how long they are comfortable with letting their children cry before they are contacted.
  • What activities will my child participate in? In all three of the nurseries, the children play, are held, read to, and fed if needed. We do everything we can to help them feel loved and secure at church. In the Toddler Nursery, the children will also have a short lesson each week.
  • I have a question, who do I contact? For more information, contact Kari Wilkinson, Nursery Coordinator.
  • I love babies! How can I volunteer to serve in the nurseries? In order to volunteer in the nursery, please contact Kari Wilkinson, Nursery Coordinator.

Kids

  • How do I check in my child? There is a check in station in the hallway near the kids’ rooms on the lower level. On your first visit, we ask that a parent or guardian fill out a children’s ministry registration form. Each week, your child checks in at the check in station and is given a nametag prior to attending class.
  • How do I pick up my child? Please pick up your child(ren) promptly following service or class. You may pick up your child from their classroom. The teachers will keep your child until the person(s) you have designated picks them up. Children in grades 4 and up are also permitted to leave on their own with signed permission from their parents. You may indicate this option on your registration form if you desire.
  • Can my child stay for class during both hours? At this time, your child is welcome to stay for class during both hours. The class experience is the same—with a different set of leaders. We ask that if your child does choose to stay, that you pick them up after the first hour and re-check them in for the second hour. For safety reasons, we want an accurate count of which children are with us each hour.
  • Who are the teachers/leaders? Our kids’ classes are staffed with loving adult leaders that have applied and been trained. We conduct background checks on all adults who work with minors at North Springs. Your child will have the same teacher most weeks. Some classes will also be assisted by teen helpers.
  • Can my child attend the main worship services? Absolutely. Children are an important part of our faith community and are more than welcome in the worship services. We value families having the opportunity to worship together. We suggest families consider attending one of our two services together, and attending classes the other hour.
  • Can I visit the kids program? Parents are always welcome to visit our classes. Please check in at the check-in station, and let your child’s teacher know you are observing this week.
  • The kids program looks like fun, how can I volunteer? Children’s ministry is a fun and exciting place to serve. If you are interested in volunteering with our children’s ministry, please contact Dawn Wilkinson, Children’s Ministries Director via email or to learn more.
